Soooo I’ll admit, I was a skeptic at first – a HUGE skeptic. I just didn’t really understand the phenomenon of meditation and to be honest, I don’t think I was ready to try to understand it… + Isn’t that just some hippy-dippy thing that people pretend to do and pretend that they’re invested in just to sound cool? + How on earth does someone actually just STOP and do nothing except sit and be with themselves for an extended period of time? + How do you just quit social media, stop checking in, disconnect and be with you & only you? + How do you get your brain to turn off, shut down, be quiet? + What do you even do? Those were my thoughts on meditation before I started trying it for myself.…

Hi babes. I’ve decided that today is going to be a blogging day all day long. Since the whole province is shut down, no seriously – even the buses are pulled from the road and the Casino is shut down! – there’s nothing to take up my attention, so I can focus completely on the blog. They say we’re in for 45cm of snow over the next ~24 hours and the wind is blowing at like 75km/hr. It’s crazy out there! With Valentine’s Day coming up, it seemed like the perfect time to talk about falling in love with your life. On Friday, I shared a few of my self-love and self-care tips. And while self-care and self-love are important, loving your life is SO key too. If you’re not ridiculously happy with your life, how…

/ mindfulness [ noun ]: … the mental state in which one becomes aware of the present moment, calmly acknowledging and accepting the ways in which one is thinking and feeling, and the sensations occurring in one’s body. … the conscious state of being aware. Being a crazy over-thinker, being an anxious, nervous and constantly on edge person, I live every day not knowing how I am going to feel. The weirdest scenarios or circumstances can set me off and I can completely zone out and become a different person because of my anxiety and inability to navigate certain situations that I find myself in. OK I swear I will get over the cliché new year posts soon… but I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to this topic. There is something so incredibly sweet about the start of a new year. I am all about the start of a new week, or a new month – but a new YEAR is even better. I crave goal setting, envisioning my life and making new intentions. There’s no better time of year to do that then the new year when the slate is wiped clean and you can start from scratch. I know some people get mouthy about the new year and clean slates, starting from scratch and setting goals, but I think it is important to do and extremely healthy for the mind, body and soul. I like to think of the…

There are so many things that I am planning on doing for 2017, but the main one that I want to focus on for the upcoming year is slowing down. Sounds pretty hypocritical when I actually put it out there in that sense ( SO many things I want to do, but I need to slow down! ), but really, it makes sense to me. I feel as though this is an easy thing for all of us to want to do, but it’s a hard thing for us to actually do. We are constantly overcommitting, overbooking, desiring to overachieve; being told to work harder, push through it, get over it and move on. I stand by my opinion that millennials are forced to do a ton of things that we don’t always want to do, are forced…
