Soooo I’ll admit, I was a skeptic at first – a HUGE skeptic. I just didn’t really understand the phenomenon of meditation and to be honest, I don’t think I was ready to try to understand it… + Isn’t that just some hippy-dippy thing that people pretend to do and pretend that they’re invested in just to sound cool? + How on earth does someone actually just STOP and do nothing except sit and be with themselves for an extended period of time? + How do you just quit social media, stop checking in, disconnect and be with you & only you? + How do you get your brain to turn off, shut down, be quiet? + What do you even do? Those were my thoughts on meditation before I started trying it for myself.…

Ugh, it’s December so OF COURSE I am sick. I feel like it’s a tradition… every year around Christmastime, I get sick. Seriously, for as far back as I can remember, it happens. I remember one year when I was in elementary school, I spent Christmas Eve sitting in the ambulance bay at the children’s hospital, with my mom and grandmother, trying to breathe in the cool, fresh air until I could see the nurse for my steroid shot. I’ve been fighting off this bug since Friday night and I’ve actually created a nice little routine of healthy habits. I’m trying to hard to boost my immune system, rest up and feel better before the craziness of the holidays really hit. Plus… I may or may not still need to do a bit more Christmas shopping……

Hi hi. A little post about something that I’m slowly but surely getting better at allowing myself to take time to do. Self freakin’ care people. It is one of those things that is OH so important, but sometimes hard to do. Sometimes it’s sickening, other times it’s just there – in the back of your mind, but still THERE nonetheless. I’ve had it for honestly as long as I can remember. I remember when I was in early elementary school, my bestie used to come over for supper every Tuesday ( spaghetti & Caesar salads with a bowl of shredded cheddar cheese was our FAV ) before we had to rush to dance practice & I would have to say “my grandparents are on the phone for me” and I’d disappear downstairs for a few minutes. It wasn’t my grandparents on the phone. It was actually a local children’s hospital’s therapist who would talk…

Hello my loves. When I was away in Cuba, we met for breakfast every day at 8 am because we all decided that we didn’t want to waste away our days by sleeping in until noon and also, if you’ve ever been to Cuba you know that breakfast is BY FAR the best meal of the day. I mean freshly made omelettes from the omelette bar, pineapple, crispy hashbrowns and bacon that actually looks & tastes like it should ( not that I ate it often but from what everyone else was saying, it was delicious ). One day, Alexah, Hannah and I even set our alarms for the ungodly hour of 5 am to wake up and watch the sunrise. And although we didn’t get to actually watch the sunrise ( it was taking FOREVER…
