Hello and happy Friday!
Yesterday marked my 1-year blogging anniversary… I cannot believe that I forgot about it / that I’ve had my bloggy for THIS LONG. I feel as though it will be a work in progress for quite some time now, but I am loving every single minute of it!
It’s been seriously quiteeeee some time since I posted The Friday Five so I thought it was time to bring it back again.
I have been LOVING fall lately, as you probably already know… so it’s only fitting that this Friday Five post be totally fall-themed. There’s so many things that I love about fall, so let’s get right to it.
five fall closet staples:
In the fall, I like to be cozy, comfortable and warm.
There’s absolutely NOTHING that I dislike more than being cold. It makes me cranky, panicky and downright hateful sometimes ( I can’t help it… ). I always plan for the worst weather; I overdress, layer too much and wear too many pairs of socks – yes, really.
So it’s no surprise that my fall closet staples are cozy, layering pieces that are pretty practical.
+ Capes / ponchos: love throwing these on over top of a cute long-sleeve tee. They keep you so cozy and warm! I’m loving that they’re back in style.
+ Corduroy skirts: the skirt obsession continues… I love pairing a skirt with a cute top, but I love it even more when the skirt is a different texture than just a boring old cotton skirt.
+ Knit cardigans: if I’m not wearing a leather jacket or a poncho, I am most definitely wearing a knit cardigan ( or sweater ). Nothing says fall quite like a knit sweater.
+ Hats: LOVE hats. They just complete any outfit + they look so cute.
+ Sweatshirt dresses: there’s nothing better than being comfy and cozy, so is there any dress that is better than a sweatshirt dress? Throwing on a sweatshirt dress and booties is just as cute as throwing on a t-shirt dress and lace-up sandals in the summer.
five favourite snacks:
It’s hard to not reach for rich, dense, bad-for-you foods when the weather gets cold ( please tell me you agree? ).
Lately I’ve been trying to be fairly healthy and eat mostly raw, clean, green, whole foods… but some days are definitely more of a struggle than others. These snacks have been my saving graces so far this fall.
What have you been loving to snack on lately? I need some suggestions!
+ Grapes ( esp. the green ones lately! ): grapes must be in season right now!? Every bag of grapes that I’ve had recently have been so tasty! They’ve been the perfect amount of crunchy and juicy all at once. Like I said, the green ones have been especially good lately. I’ve never tried the cotton candy grapes that everyone raves about, but I seriously want to! I had them on the scanner at the grocery store a few weeks ago, and the smallest amount was $12… needless to say, I didn’t buy them.
+ Trail mix: nothing better than grabbing a handful of mixed nuts, dried berries and whatever else shredded goodness you decide to mix together, am I right? My fav things to add to trail mix are shredded coconut, cacao nibs and goji berries!
+ Herb and garlic white cheddar cheese: OMG – dead. Seriously the best type of cheese that I have ever tasted. Almost daily, I have little chunks of cheese for lunch and it’s my favourite meal of the day. Cracker Barrell makes the BEST that I’ve tried so far, but I’m always down to try other brands.
+ Vanilla almond granola: I’ve been eating peanut butter granola for the LONGEST time, but I was in the grocery store recently and picked up a box of vanilla almond granola and I just might have to say that this is my favourite type of granola that I have ever had… it’s so good. It honestly tastes just like a vanilla latte… mmmmm…
+ Apples: always a fall staple for a healthy snack. Honeycrisp are my FAV. I love when they’re in season but why do they have to be so dang expensive?!

Life lately has had its ups & downs… school has been a really low point in life lately.
I attended this university once before – my first year of university – and I absolutely HATED it. It made me panicky, emotional, depressed and uncomfortable. Ultimately, the overall vibe of the school was what finalized my decision to transfer schools & get the hell out of there, but unfortunately I am back. It’s the only school near my home that offers the education program, and I unfortunately was not in the right place in life to move out / away from home for school this year. I’ve been having some rough times with my anxiety lately, but I am determined to stick it out. I’m only technically in school for three semesters over the next two years so I am determined to stay strong and make it through.

five favourite shoes for fall:
Boots, booties, flats… OH MY.
In my opinion, there’s no better season to up your shoe game than fall. Seriously. You have SO many options. I mean some days it’s warm enough to still wear open-toed shoes, flats, even sandals! And then the next day it could be cool enough to bust out your trusty Uggs, wear some leather boots or over-the-knee boots for some added warmth on the legs, paired with a shorter dress / skirt.
What’s your favourite shoes to wear in the fall? I’m loving shopping for booties and flats lately… I can’t stop!
+ Over-the-knee boots: clearly you all know that I am obsessed with OTK boots so it’s no surprise that this is number one on the list. They’re so easy to throw on with a pair of jeans, but also SUPER cute to wear with tights and a dress / skirt. They give you that extra added warmth on your legs that is quite necessary for fall on the east coast.
+ Heeled booties: honestly, I’ve never really been comfortable wearing heels / heeled shoes but this fall, I have been ALL about the heeled booties. My favourite way to wear heeled booties is with jeans… I wear this combo alllll the time.
+ Converse: comfiest lazy-day shoes ever for every season = Converse. Always.
+ Leather boots: nothing like a good pair of leather riding boots. I have a pair of brown riding boots that I bought, like, four years ago and I still live in them in the cooler months.
+ Lace-up flats: OH so cute. I seriously feel just like a ballerina when I wear lace-up flats. They’re so girly and chic.
five favourite starbucks drinks:
It’s really no secret that I love Starbucks… like I really LOVE love Starbucks.
In the spring and summer I like iced coffees and teas, but I like to treat myself sometimes during the cooler months and indulge in a nice hot & sweet treat. These drinks have been my go-to’s lately on a day that I feel as though I need a pick-me-up. Starbucks has such expensive drinks but sometimes you’ve just gotta treat yourself, right?
+ Pumpkin Spice Lattes: I mean… what is more fall than a PSL? You can never go wrong.
+ Salted Caramel Mocha: I feel as though I have a love / hate thing with these but they are ( usually ) pretty good, depends on who makes them!
+ Vanilla Latte: uggghhhhh, my obsession. I love anything vanilla and in my opinion, there’s absolutely nowhere better to get a vanilla latte from than Starbucks.
+ Caramel Macchiato: I’m not going to lie – I prefer these iced, but they’re also super good as a hot drink so I couldn’t leave them off my list. They have a different taste when they are iced versus hot but still SO yum.
+ Caffe Mocha: chocolate-y flavoured coffee… hot and tasty drink. Seriously, delicious. I had never tried this particular drink until my friend ordered one when I was out with her and it sounded SO yummy, I had to give it a try too.
